More Than Boxing. We Build Stronger Youth and Stronger Communities.

Box It Out Association provides a safe space where youth can grow, connect, and learn how to manage their emotions in a positive way.

Our Story

Box It Out Association is a non-profit organization based in the historic Preston Township, founded by Canadian professional boxer and 2012 Olympian Custio Clayton and his wife Charis Clayton.

Custio witnessed a growing need for emotional support, structure, and safe spaces for youth within the community. Many young people struggle to understand or regulate their emotions, especially those who have experienced loss, stress, or difficult circumstances. Without healthy coping skills, these emotions can build up and lead to frustration, anger, conflict, or unhealthy behaviors.

Custio wanted to create a program where youth could learn emotional regulation, build confidence, stay active, and receive positive mentorship so they can make healthy choices and stay on the right path.

In 2020, Custio's commitment to mental health became deeply personal when he lost a close family member to mental health challenges. This experience strengthened his belief that mental health awareness, early support, and safe conversations can make a meaningful difference in someone's life. This personal mission, combined with his professional experience and deep care for his community, formed the foundation of Box It Out.

WHO Are We

Box It Out Association is a community-based nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting youth through boxing, mentorship, and emotional development.

We create structured programs that help youth build confidence, discipline, and resilience—both inside and outside the gym.

Why we exist

Many youth in our communities face challenges such as stress, anger, and limited access to safe, supportive environments. Without positive outlets, these emotions can often be expressed in unhealthy ways.

Box It Out was created to give youth a place to “box it out”—providing a safe and structured space where they can release emotions, learn self-control, and build confidence.
